ANOTHER VISIT TO SHRINGERI

Sunday, 26th April 2015
Shringeri is the famous place, where Sharadamba Temple is centre of attraction. This temple and the Goddess radiates lot of energy from within, which attracts lot of visitors throughout the year.
We started of from Udupi at 8 am by with Nalini, Vijaya and Smitha. After having breakfast at Hebri at Badekillayas Hotel, reached Kigga, a small place, which has Rushya Shrangeshwara Temple.
After visiting, we reached Shringeri, a distance of 20 km . Being Sunday and school holidays time, there were lot of visitors.
The new entrance called GOPURA, is being given final touches and the entrance to the temple is through the side doors.
The Sharadamba temple in Shringeri was established by Sri Shankaracharya when he established the Sharada Peetham Matha here. It is a beautiful temple, set in the Malnad region. Shringeri is located on the banks of the river Tunga. It is a famous pilgrimage center and very important for the followers of Shankaracharya.
Sri Shankaracharya was travelling across the country with his disciples. when he reached this spot, known as Shringa Giri, because the hill here was the place of the ashram of Vibhandaka Maharishi and his great son Rishyashringa.
When Sri Shankara came to this place, he saw a strange scene – a cobra had reared up and spread its hood, to provide shade from the hot sun for a spawning toad. He was enchanted by this sight. Saraswathi Devi, who was with him in the form of a young girl named Bharathi, decided to stay here. Adi Shankaracharya also decided to stay here and set up the Shringeri Sharada Peetham, one of the five Mathas he established in various parts of India. It is said he spent twelve years here.

SIRIMANE FALLS

Sunday, 26th April 2015

A beautiful waterfalls near Shringeri has lot of potential for tourist attractions. It's fresh water falling from the rocks, amongst natural surroundings. Five km road from Kigga is not so good, but motorable. One has to walk down about 80 steps to reach the falls. There are changing rooms and one can walk down under the falls and enjoy.
We had to come up after 45minutes at the falls, as it started raining heavily and the steps were slippery to come up. There were lot of tourists, young and old.

Sirimane Falls is located at a distance of 5 km from Kigga near Sringeri, a popular pilgrim center.
Kigga, a small village which houses to beautiful waterfalls. Kigga is about 16 kms from Sringeri. Water from falls feeds coffee estates and paddy fields in the downstream. A moderate entry fee is collected to maintain the walkways and viewpoints. The money collected also supports a small hydraulic power plant which is built adjacent to falls which lights Kigga houses. The entire activity is controlled and maintained by local bodies.
The place is in the process of improving for attraction of tourists.

Artists.....
Sripad Bhat, director of the play has shown his excellent imagination and creativity in presenting  the story of Karna, from MahaBharatha. The play depicts how Karna.....who is  Kunti Putra, Soorya Putra, Sootha Putra...... is defeated by Indra, Parashurama and Shalya...... by unfair means. Indra, in disguise of a Brahmana, presents himself superbly with acting, dance and with humour.
The music and dance presentation of group of cows, horses, elephants or gold and Shalya's riding the horses are amazing.......
After the show with Sripad Bhat and others..
The play is presented by SANGAMA KALAVIDARU, MANIPAL. Bhasa's play assumes contemporary relevance because of the characteristic plurality.

BENDRE BELAGU - MUSIC PROGRAM

Sunday 5th April 2015
It was an excellent three hour music program of Late D R Bendre songs, BENDRE BELAGU....... sung by Ramachandra Hadapada and his team, Gargi, Shruthi, Nayana Tara and the accompanying musicians which included Tabla, Rhythm pad, Dholak, Flute, and Keyboard.
The program was organized by Multi-faceted AVIRATHA, Non-Governmental Organization at K H Kala Soudha, Bengaluru at 4pm.

Dattatraya Ramachandra (D.R) Bendre (1896-1981)  is one of the foremost poets not only of Karnataka but of India. This is borne out by his winning the Jnanapith Award  in 1973 which rates as the Noble Prize of India.
Bendre was a profile poet. 1427 poems in all. With him life is not different  from poetry. But he always held life as greater than letters. Much too often life itself unfolds as poetry .A large chunk of his poems springs from real life events. Life offered him more than a fair share of distress and unhappiness. He was without employment for a long stretch. The British Govt. jailed and then kept him under house arrest as they thought his poem Narabali (sacrificing of Humans) an indictment on the British regime in India.
Nayana Krishna, Gargi, Ramachabdra, Shruthi
Bendre believed in the value of an integrated personality but loved to project himself as a threefold being: Dattatreya Ramachandra Bendre, the biological self, the dehiProfessor Bendre, the thinking self; and Ambikatanayadatta, the creative self. The three selves were conceived as mutually supporting selves, as the imagery Bendre used to concretise this idea clearly suggests. He spoke of Ambikatanayadatta and Professor Bendre as closely related to each other as the banks of a river or the belly and the back. One could not exist without the other.
Ramachandra Hadapada and his team of singers have done superb justice to Bendre poems by singing more than 25 songs melodiously with accompanying musicians, termed as KAVYADA NAADA LEELE....
The show was at a ticket price of Rs150.00 and the hall was full with only few seats in the balcony of Kala Soudha.

VASTU PRAKARA - MOVIE

It's Thursday, 2nd April 2015, the movie VASTU PRAKARA was released, went to Orion Mall, to watch the movie. There was a big build up in the media about Yogaraj Bhat's movie.
The movie is good entertainment and on a lighter note is sarcastic about the astrology of building science. People have been believing this for ages and some kind of truth must have been there and there evidences too.....  |The circumstances may lead up to coincidences and just can't condemn the age old belief.......
The cast.... Rakshith Shetty, Ishani, Parul, Ananth Nag, Jaggesh, T N Seetharam, Sudha Rani acted well as per their role. The story line is little dragging.... Cinematography and location are super,
